A date poll to find a day everyone can make

A free group date poll, like a Doodle poll without the faff. Pick a few dates for the catch-up, drop one link in the group chat, and see who can make what. Nobody signs up.

Pick the dates

Tap every day that could work. Tap it again to take it off.

Your dates

Nothing picked yet. Add a time to any date if it matters, like 7pm or Arvo.

    How it works

    1. Pick your dates. Tap the days that could work on the calendar. Add a time if it matters, and a note if you like.
    2. Share one link. Paste it in the group chat. You also get a private organiser link to come back with.
    3. Everyone answers. They add their name and tap yes, if need be or no for each date. They can change it later on the same phone.
    4. Close it and pick. The grid shows the best date first. Close the poll on the winner and everyone sees it.

How the best date is picked

    • Everyone answers every date with yes, if need be or no.
    • The date with the most yeses goes to the top.
    • A tie goes to the date with more if need be answers.
    • Still tied? The one that comes first on the poll wins. Dates run in calendar order, and times on the same day in the order you added them.
    • A no never counts against a date. It just shows who can't make it.
    • You have the final say. Close the poll on any date, not only the top one.

    Tips for the organiser

Keep the list short. A handful of dates gets answers. A whole month gets ignored.

Say when you'll decide. Tell the group chat when you're closing the poll, so the stragglers get a nudge.

Add times only when they matter. A lunch or a dinner on the same Saturday is two choices. Otherwise a date alone is quicker to answer.

Copy your organiser link somewhere safe. There's no account, so it's the only way back to close the poll.

Got the date? Work out when the invites should go with the invitation timing tool. Then HeadsUp sends the invite, tracks who's coming and keeps the address private until guests verify.

    Questions

How does it pick the best date?

Most yeses wins. A tie goes to the date with more if need be answers, and if it's still tied, the one that comes first on the poll. A no never counts against a date. Say Friday gets 4 yes and 1 if need be, and Saturday gets 4 yes and 2 if need be. Saturday comes out on top.

Is it like a Doodle poll or When2meet?

Same idea, fewer steps. Some people call it an availability poll or a scheduling poll, and it's how you sort a catch-up, a birthday dinner or a work Christmas party. Pick some dates, drop one link in the group chat, and everyone answers yes, if need be or no. Nobody signs up, you included.

How many people and dates can a poll take?

Up to 60 people and 20 dates, with at least 2 dates. You can put a time on a date, and offer the same day twice at different times.

    Can people change their answers?

Yes, on the phone or laptop they answered on. Their name stays put. Nobody else with the link can change them. If somebody's stuck on a new phone, take their answers off from your organiser page and they can answer again.

What happens when I close the poll?

Answers lock, and everyone with the link sees the date you picked. You can pick any date, and change your pick later if plans move.

How long do you keep it?

Everything is deleted 60 days after the last date on the poll. If your last date is Saturday 14 November, the poll and every answer on it are gone on Wednesday 13 January. We only ask for a first name, so nobody gets a text or an email from us.
